Region: Bolgheri Rosato DOC Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot & Syrah
The Guado al Tasso estate is situated at approximately 50 miles to the southwest of Florence, near the former medieval hamlet of Bolgheri in the Tuscan Maremma. The property, some 2500 acres in overall surface area, extends from the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea to the first hills of the interior and includes, in addition to 750 acres of vineyards, grain, corn, and sunflower fields as well as olive groves. The wine takes its name from a bandit named “Scalabrone” who lived in the area in the first years of the 19th century, a sort of local Robin Hood who attacked ships in the port and canal of Bolgheri of that period.
Tasting Notes: A brilliant peony pink in color, the wine shows intense and rich aromas, less redolent of the typical pepper and bell pepper notes of Cabernet than usual and more expressive of flowers and fruit, particularly cherries and raspberries. On the palate it is fresh, balanced, fruity, and long on the finish and aftertaste. Technical sheet Italy1-9 | 10+ | |
