Region : DO Costers del Segre       Grape varieties : Cariñena, Garnacha tinta & Syrah       Tasting notes :        As far back as 1770, the monks of the Montserrat abbey carried out their penance at the Desterrats estate. The area was known for its extreme climate and harsh conditions. Their task: working the land to provide food for the diocese. Their legacy: discovering a new terroir and a superlative wine. The legend: Enormous barrels vanishing mysteriously. Some said it was the angels taking them to heaven...       Purgatori is a mature, intense and deep wine. On the nose, the aromas of ripe red fruit with smoked and lactic notes of its ageing stand out. In the mouth, it is fresh and it expresses all the concentration of fruit. Perfect combination with cold meat, grilled red meats, mature cheese, steak tartare, white roasted meat.
