Guado al Taso 0.75 2020

Region: Bolgheri DOC Superiore Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot & Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot The estate takes its name from a curious fact: at the Guado al Tasso estate, timid badgers (“tasso” in italian) are sometimes seen crossing fords (“guado” in italian) in the streams. Guado al Tasso is about 50 miles southwest of Florence near the medieval village of Bolgheri in the Upper Maremma. The 2500 acres property extends from the Tirrenian coast to inland hills where vineyards situated on rocky, slightly calcareous soil, are cultivated. The first Guado al Tasso vintage was the 1990. The wine is aged 18 months in oak barrels and then 10 more months in the bottle. Tasting Notes: On the nose the initial balsamic sensations are followed by aromas of ripe fruit and spices, on the palate is velvety, with soft tannins and much finesse.
